Agapé – God’s Unconditional Love

In 1996, Agape Street Ministries, a Catholic Christian Street Outreach Ministry began reaching out to women involved in prostitution in the downtown eastside area of Hastings and Cordova in Vancouver. Since that time, we have responded to the call for a second location and expanded into the Whalley/City Centre neighborhood of Surrey as well as a third location in Chilliwack. Dedicated Agape volunteers, wearing their red jackets are often referred to as ‘the Candy People’ by the women. The volunteers give over 43,000 candy bags a year, each with the message of God’s love for them. In addition, birthday bags are provided to the women as well as small gift bags at Christmas that include basic personal items. A weekly breakfast and ministry is provided to over 30-40 women at our Vancouver location. Through encounters with Agape Street Ministries, women learn that God’s love for them is unconditional, and it is through Him that freedom and true healing from addiction and sexual exploitation can be realized.

Mission

That all women who work in prostitution and or suffer from addictions will hear Jesus’ message of Love and open their hearts to His healing power.

vision

Agape Street Ministry Volunteers are called to bring the Love of Jesus to women who work in the sex trade and/or have drug or alcohol addiction. Through non-judgmental and prayerful actions and words we share God’s unconditional love for the women.

Agape Street Ministry is also affiliated with Sancta Maria House, a 1st stage recovery house, located in Vancouver, BC.
