We are a community of Catholics who provide street outreach ministry in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. We seek to bring hope to women who have experienced sexual exploitation or are suffering from drug or alcohol addiction by providing them with tangible needs on the streets and through prayer.
Our volunteers give thousands of candy bags each year, each with the message of God’s love for women. In addition, birthday bags are provided to women as well as small gift bags at Christmas and Easter that include basic personal items. For more than twenty years, a Tuesday breakfast and outreach team at the St. Kateri Centre has connected with over 30-40 women weekly (this is not currently in operation).
Our hope is that through interactions with Agape Street Ministry volunteers, women on the street experience God’s unconditional love for them. We hope this is a doorway where freedom and true healing from addiction and sexual exploitation can be realized.
We want to see that all women who suffer from addictions and exploitation will hear Jesus’ message of love and open their hearts to His healing power.
Agape Street Ministry volunteers are called to bring the love of Jesus to women who work in the sex industry and/or have drug or alcohol addiction by going out to them and meeting them where they are at. In providing resources and prayer on the streets, we hope to bring God’s unconditional love to these women.
Our work involves meeting people where they are at by providing street outreach ministry in Vancouver. Dedicated Agape volunteers, wearing their red jackets, are often referred to as 'the Candy People' by the women they meet.

We are fully supported by volunteers and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We could not do what we do without community and rely on financial donations to support our mission and vision.
